This beautiful flower model showcases the superb skills of Chinese craftsmen.
Extending from the rock-filled planter are a number of metal, thread-covered branches. From these ‘grow’ a large selection of hardstone flowers. Agate is used for the orange and yellow-hued flowers while rose quartz for the pink specimens. Delicate polychrome beads are used for the stigmas, their bold colours standing out against the more muted hardstones. Alongside the fully bloomed flowers are some in their bud state, showcasing the beauty of nature in various stages. Deep green nephrite jade leaves complete the composition.
The planter is crafted using the very complex technique of cloisonné enamelling. Its surfaces are predominantly covered with various vibrant green scrolling patterns on a bright blue background. In the middle is a band of pink-hued flowers with very prominent green leaves, adding interest to the design. The lip of the planter is adorned in a similar manner, its edges gilded. The piece stands on four refined gilt feet.
This objet d’art would be an elegant home décor piece for modern and traditional spaces.
