Chinese hardstone flower model in a cloisonné enamel pot

This stunning Chinese flower model is a superb objet d’art, casting an array of blooms in different semi-precious stones.

Emerging from the planter is a metal tree trunk, treated with resin to evoke the natural colours and textures of the bark. From the trunk hang numerous different flowers, cast from several different hardstones that include carnelian, rose quartz, and lapis lazuli. Each bloom is centred by a yellow beaded stigma, held together by thread-wrapped wire. Between the flowers hang impressively carved nephrite leaves, which add a superb colour contrast.
