    Victorian

    In the 19th Century Victorian period, there was no one dominant style that influenced the decorative arts. However, the Neo-Gothic and Rococo revival styles were the most popular choices for interior décor and furniture was often characterised by its excessive ornamentation. For the Victorian aesthetic, more was more: a bare room was considered to be bad taste and it was common to have every surface of a room filled with objects that reflected a homeowner’s character and aspirations.
