Parquetry

Very similar to marquetry work, the parquetry technique consists of the inlay of wood pieces into a pattern for decorative effect. It differs from marquetry work, which can involve curved and natural shapes, in that parquetry is rigidly geometric in style. Thus, rather than creating naturalistic images, parquetry decorates flooring and furniture in a more abstract, non-figural way.
