Perlberg, Johann Friedrich (German, 1848-1921)

Johann Friedrich Perlberg (1848 -1921) was a German architectural and landscape painter.

Born in Nuremberg in 1848, Perlberg first began studying painting in 1868. After finishing his studies in 1875, Perlberg established his studio in Munich where he produced numerous works of the surrounding area. In addition to Germany, the Perlberg also painted in France, Spain and Italy. However, Perlberg remains most famous for his exceptional depictions of subjects in the Orientalist style, many of which were inspired by his 1896 trip to Egypt and Sudan.
