Egyptian Revival Antiques

Although technically an architectural style, Egyptian Revival has come to signify anything designed using the motifs and imagery of ancient Egypt such as sphynxes, obelisks and the distinctive headdresses of the Pharaohs. Originating in France, the style’s popularity arose from Emperor Napoleon’s conquest of Egypt in the late 18th Century, and is therefore closely related to the French Empire style popular in the early 19th Century.
