Durand et fils (French, 1890-1934)

Gervais-Maximilien-Eugene Durand (French, 1839 - c. 1920) was best known for producing high quality furniture after important 18th Century makers including Adam Weisweiler and Jean-Henri Riesener. He established his firm Maison Durand in 1870 and won a silver medal in the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1889. After his son Frederic-Louis joined the firm in 1890 at which point the firm changed its name to 'Durand et Fils'. In 1920, upon Gervais Durand's death, Frederic-Louis took over the business and continued until 1934.
