Christofle (French, active from 1830)

Maison Christofle was founded in 1830 by the jeweller Charles Christofle (d. 1863). Mastering the art of working with silver and embracing the technologies of silver-plating, the Normandy based workshop achieved huge success, swiftly becoming suppliers to royal households and political dignitaries across Europe.

From its beginning, Christofle was recognised for the high quality and exquisite design of its hand-made silver objects; it is this attention to detail that has secured the firm’s excellent reputation to the present day.
