Bauré, Albert (French, c.1860-1930)

Albert Bauré was a prominent French painter, who flourished in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries.

Born near Bordeaux, Bauré became pupil to Bouguereau and T. Robert-Fleury, two prominent French 19th Century painters. Having established a firm reputation for himself as a naturalistic painter, Bauré began exhibiting his works in the late 1880s. The painter soon achieved international recognition, and was awarded an honourable mention in 1899 and a bronze medal in 1911 at the Exposition Universelle in Paris.

Bauré's work continues to be highly prized, and he remains one of the most important French naturalistic painters of his time.
